Max paints in a realistic style, with elements of fantasy and surrealism. The technique which he uses, is building up many layers of paint to give a very fine and detailed finish.

He was born and educated in Wanganui and has been focused of art since a very early age. He then went on to study for 4 years an Elam Art School in Auckland, graduating in 1977 with a diploma in fine arts with honours. He has exhibited on many occasions throughout New Zealand and Australia.

After many years away has returned to Wanganui to settle with his family. Now a regular exhibitor at The Wanganui Community Arts Center, member of The Wanganui Art Society and most recently involved with the annual Wanganui Open Studios.
